Green coordinators of destinations participating in the Green Scheme of Slovenian Tourism must answer more than 100 questions from six thematic areas, ranging from tourism management to nature, environment, culture and society, for the purpose of certification. To help them collect data and report on sustainability, we designed the Green Classroom, in which participants in 12 school hours in small groups get to know the requirements of the standard in detail and, with the help of good and bad practices, improve the way they collect data and report on achievements.
Alenka Tomašič, green coordinator of the Bela krajina destination: “Participation in the Green Classroom helped me better understand the Slovenia Green platform and how to report on individual criteria. Tina and Petra, based on their rich experience of past assessments, gave us useful information and concrete suggestions on how to improve preparation of proofs and content for reporting. A great experience that I would be happy to repeat.”
Mojca Ramovš, green coordinator of the destination Novo mesto: “The green classroom is definitely a great experience, which gave me useful knowledge and a completely different understanding of the Green Scheme platform, because only now do I see that its usefulness lies precisely in making a step in different areas forward to permanent action.”
