Cross-Border Destination Development for Inclusive and Sustainable Tourism in the Slovenian-Hungarian Border Region
The project addresses the development of sustainable tourism in the Slovenian-Hungarian border region, where Slovenia already achieves high sustainability standards with Green Destinations (GD) certificates and the Slovenia Green programme, while Hungary is still in its early stages.
The project aims to obtain GSTC certificates for Hungarian destinations and establish a sustainable border network of providers, which will enable the development of cross-border tourism products. The programme will support the preparation of destinations for certification, and a system for monitoring sustainability and accessibility will be developed. The partners will use a harmonised methodology, a mentoring programme for training tourism businesses will be developed, and it will also include a circular economy pilot programme with local producers from both sides of the border.
The digital platform will enable continuous monitoring of sustainability indices, and the project will contribute to the establishment of a high-quality, sustainably oriented cross-border tourist destination.
